The main business activity of Clariant Chemicals (India) involves manufacturing and selling of specialty chemicals such as Pigments, Colors, Dyes,Textile Chemicals & Leather Chemicals for domestic and industrial use. The Company offers synthetic organic and pigment dyestuffs, leather chemicals, synthetic resin binder materials, and auxiliaries. Clariant Chemicals (India) serves customers worldwide. For the consumer goods sector, it offers Nickel-free sealants, masterbatches foaming agents and non-halogenated flame retardants, among others.
The business structure of the Company now comprises of the following divisions :Life Science and Electronic Chemicals, Pigments and Additives, Textile, Leather and Paper Chemicals, Cellulose Ethers & Polymerisates, Functional Chemicals. The Dyes and Specialty Chemicals segment includes dyestuff, synthetic resins, binder materials, functional effects, and coating and chemicals. The Pigments and Colors segment includes pigments, pigment preparations, additives and masterbatches. The Company's products are offered for various sectors, such as agriculture, infrastructure, home and personal care, packaging, consumer goods, fibers, transportation and healthcare. For the home and personal care sector, it offers whitening dyes and functional waxes, among others. For the packaging sector, it offers pigments and specialty masterbatches.
Colour-Chem (CCL) was incorporated in 1956 with technical and financial collaboration of Hoechst and Bayer AG and three Indian business groups - the Khataus, the Ruias, and Ghias. In Oct 2000, 50.1% equity stake of the company held by Hoechest AG, Germany was transferred to EBITO Chemiebeteiligungen AG, Switzerland, a subsidiary of Clariant International AG, Switzerland and subsequently EBITO acquired 20% stake of the company in 2005. Now EBITO holds 70.1% Equity stake of the company. Subsequently to the merger of the Speciality Chemicals Division of Hoechst AG with Clariant AG in 1997, CCL has become a part of the global Clariant group. CCL has subsidiaries, Vanavil Dyes & Chemicals in Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu and Kundalika Investments Ltd.
