Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd is a healthcare provider was established in 1983 by Dr. Prathap C Reddy, is an Indian hospital chain based in Chennai, India. It has a robust presence across the healthcare ecosystem including Hospitals Pharmacies Primary Care & Diagnostic Clinics. As on 31 December 2017 Apollo had a network of 71 hospitals with total bed capacity of 9948 across approximately 70 locations, over 2,330 pharmacies, approximately 170 primary care and diagnostic clinics, and over 150 telemedicine units across approximately 10 countries.
The Company is involved in offering healthcare services and operating standalone pharmacies. Apollo Hospitals was among the earliest hospitals in the world to leverage technology to facilitate seamless healthcare delivery. The Company's segments include Healthcare, Pharmacy and Others. The Healthcare segment consists of hospitals, hospital-based pharmacies, and projects and consultancy services. The group has developed services in telemedicine, after starting a pilot project in 2000 at Aragonda, Prathap Reddy's home village.
Apollo hospitals are situated in Chennai Hyderabad Delhi Ahmedabad Pune Chenganur Coimbatore Jaipur Madurai Anantpur Nellore Kurnool Bhopal Ranchi Bilaspur and Bacheli. Its tertiary care hospitals provide care in over 50 specialties, including cardiac sciences, oncology, neurosciences, critical care, orthopedics, radiology, gastroenterology and transplant. The Company also provides project consultancy services, health insurance services, education and training programs, and research services. It also operates birthing centers, day surgery centers and dental clinics.
